Pleasant Ridge Volunteer Opportunities

Below please find a complete list of all PTA Committees. If you are interested in volunteering for any committee, you can fill out this form, or print one to peruse. If you have any questions about any of the positions, please contact the VP of Nominating & Placement. Not sure what's already filled? Check availability of your desired position here. Assemblies
Coordinate and schedule assemblies for the student body. Apply for grants. Volunteers assist at assemblies and monitor students.

Book Fair
Organize two schoolbook sales, one in the fall and one in the spring. Volunteers assist with sales.

Book Swap
Chairperson coordinates the used book swap in March. Volunteers assist with sorting books and set-up for swap.

Box Tops
Chairperson organizes collection and redemption of box tops. Volunteers assist in trimming/counting box tops.

Campbell’s Labels
Chairperson organizes collection and redemption of soup labels. Volunteers assist in trimming/counting labels.

Field Day
Chairperson plans/works at field day (late spring) Volunteers help at stations, set-up and clean-up.

First Day Folders
Organizes the copying of handouts and compiling of first day folders. Volunteers assist with putting folders together. This activity is completed in August prior to first day of school.

Fundraising
Chairperson organizes and coordinates school-wide fundraising event in fall. Volunteers assist in distribution of boxes to parents on pick up day.

Grants
Searches for/writes grant proposals that will benefit Pleasant Ridge.

Grounds Beautification
Chairperson plan/installs gardens and landscaping of school grounds. V olunteers install gardens and landscaping for the school grounds. Occurs in May.

Lost and Found Chairperson
Keep lost/found area neat and orderly. Donates unclaimed clothing to appropriate charity at end of school year.

Lunchroom
Chairperson maintains monthly sign-up calendar of all volunteers. Volunteers assist students during lunch and clean-up tables.

March Reading Month
Chairperson coordinates Reading Month event. Volunteers assist chairperson as needed.

Math Night
Chairperson organizes evening event. Volunteers work event for families to experience math in a fun way.

Membership
Collects PTA membership dues/distributes membership cards/maintains membership list.

Newsletter
Collects articles for PTA newsletter and publishes it on Website.

Pancake Supper
Chairperson coordinates Pancake Supper in fall. Volunteers assist in set-up, at event and clean up.

Picture Day
Coordinates the picture day schedule and volunteers. Volunteers assist photographers and teachers with students.

Publishing Center
The Publishing Center provides an opportunity for all 3 rd and 4 th graders to write, illustrate and publish a book. Coordinate the above with staff.

Reader Express
Chairperson works with volunteers to plan Reader Express program that helps motivate students to read more and better books. Volunteers help with planning and assist students with computer tests.

Reflections Volunteer
Volunteers help promote the nation wide PTA competition of the Arts, oversee the judging of entrants; submit the students’ work for state competition and distribute awards.

Room Parent/Fan Out
Compiles list of Room Parents, explains duties and responsibilities regarding Fan Out lists. Works closely with Treasurer to distribute classroom funds.

School Directory

Science Night
Chairperson coordinates evening event with Quest teachers. Spring. Program for families to experience science in a fun way.

Scrip
Chairperson coordinates SCRIP program. Volunteers assist in collection of order forms and distribution of orders.

Teacher Conference Dinner
Chairperson organizes dinners for teachers during fall and spring conferences. Volunteers assist with preparation, set-up and clean up.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
Chairperson organizes appreciation events with room parents. Volunteers assist Chairperson.

Volunteers
Coordinates chairpersons and volunteers throughout the year for PTA committees.

Yearbook
Coordinate picture taking and assembly of annual yearbook.

Walkathon
Volunteers are needed to help with various tasks, including helping coordinators and students on Walk-a-thon Day.

Web Site
Responsible for keeping Pleasant Ridge PTA Website up-to-date.

Winter Carnival
Coordinates and plans events and organizes volunteers for a winter carnival/family fun night held during the evening on school grounds.
